October 10

It’s World Mental Health Day – this is a day to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. It’s also a day to let people know that it’s okay to ask for help, no matter what you’re going through.

We are so lucky to live in a time when we know that it’s important to be aware of and talk about Mental Health.  The most important thing to know about it is that everyone struggles sometimes, and to know you’re not alone. Bad days are part of being human. The key is that your feelings should match the situation and you should start to feel better as things improve. For example, if you feel anxious about a school project, the feelings should go away when the project is finished. If they don’t, or if you have feelings of sadness, overwhelm, or anxiety that are lasting a long time or are more intense than usual, please talk to a trusted adult -either here at school, your parents, a family friend, or by calling or texting a Help line – to make sure you get the support you need.

Friends are awesome for many reasons, but they can’t be responsible for your mental health. Grown-ups have the experience and knowledge needed for when the problems are bigger than usual. All of the adults at Colquitz are here for you!

Lead the Change Club Meeting in the library today. Bring your lunch!

Attention all students!  We need your artistic talents to help design this year’s Colquitz yearbook cover.  If you are artistic and are interested in submitting a yearbook cover design, please ask your teacher for a large piece of paper and the necessary information.  Teachers, posters regarding the yearbook cover design contest are in your box for you to post in your classroom.  Reminder that all submissions are due by November 7th. The winner will have their design printed on all yearbooks and will receive a free copy.

Ultimate Frisbee Players – please remember to return your washed jersey to Mr. Leblond this week. Also, Mr. Leblond will be hosting a pizza lunch for ultimate players on Friday to celebrate the season.

Regarding all students interested in playing basketball.   Because team sign ups are this week, if there is a practice or a meeting, and you want to play- it is important that you show up.  We can not sign up teams that do not have enough players of course!
