Today is Moosehide Campaign Day

The Moose Hide Campaign is a Canadian campaign led by Indigenous men and boys aimed at ending violence against women and children.

It is a movement where people, especially men and boys, promise to stand up against violence towards women and children, which is a huge issue in our society.

Everyone wears a little square of moose hide, a symbol of commitment to respect and protection, as a reminder of that promise.  The campaign also emphasizes the importance of engaging men in addressing violence and working towards reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. While men are encouraged to participate, the campaign welcomes all genders and encourages anyone to wear the pin and participate in events.

RUGBY RUGBY RUGBY- Grade 7/8 team plays here at Colquitz today- come cheer them on! Practice today at lunch. Please also return your Jamboree forms to Ms. Irving by end of day today.

Pizza, pizza, pizza –  Advisory teachers, please let your students know who has ordered.  A list was emailed out yesterday by Ms Cass. Students, please be ready at your classroom door with a paper towel in hand in alphabetical order and wait for a runner to take you to the pizza serving tables. Students in divisions 1-14, will go to the foyer and students in divisions 15-23 will go to the blue pod table. Students who have a lunch time activity can go straight to their table when the bell rings.

Today is District transition day in the afternoon.  Grade 8s, you will be going to your high schools, and grade 5s will be coming to visit us.  Students going to Spectrum: You must stay in your class to eat and then travel with your teacher during lunch recess.  DO NOT GO ANYWHERE during lunch.

Yearbook Club meets today after school to work on finishing the yearbook.  This is a very important meeting.  Please make sure to attend.

LAST CHANCE TO ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK! Make sure to order your yearbook today!  Check the posters around the school for order information!

Track and Field:

If you are going to Spectrum for transition, remember to get yourself up at UVic for 3:45.

Sign up needs to be done by NB today as Mr Brown is making the name tags.  You need to preferably find your own ride.

Also, if you do not have a jersey, see Mr Brown in room 129 so you can sign one out.

Remember that before you leave the track, you need to check in with Ms Zaza who will be sitting by the Colquitz sign.  It is really important so that she doesn’t keep looking for you after the Meet is done.

If you are practicing the relay, remember it does not get timed.  You are on your own for organizing your group and staying later after the 100m races are done.

Good luck athletes!!!!

Lead the Change Club is collecting 2 litre and 4 litre milk jugs for an upcoming event.  If you have any CLEAN milk jugs with lids, please bring them to Ms. Schuring or Ms. Irving
