Black Excellence Day is a day to celebrate Black history, achievements, and contributions. The date honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and serves to promote solidarity and learning about Black Canadians.

If you are in Rainbow Club and you missed the meeting yesterday, you can come get a field trip form from Ms. Thom at nut break in room 115.
Pizza, pizza, pizza – Please listen carefully. Advisory teachers, please let your students know who has ordered. A list was emailed out by the office. Students, please be ready at your classroom door with a paper towel in hand in alphabetical order and wait for a runner to take you to the pizza serving tables. Students who have a lunch time activity can go straight to their table when the bell goes. Students in divisions 1-14, will go to the foyer and students in divisions 15-23 will go to the blue pod table
ALL Students with Indigenous Ancestry: Our next pizza lunch will be on Monday, January 19th in the Home Ec Room. Afterwards, Claryssa will be teaching traditional beading for those who would like to stay. She will also be available at the lunchtimes she is here to continue with the project to keep working on it. We hope to see you there! 🙂
Come one, come all, to Colquitz’s first ever family boardgame night! Tomorrow, Friday, January 16, from 5:30-7:30 in the Colquitz gym. Admission is free. There will be a CASH ONLY concession where you and your family may purchase pizza, chips, candy and drinks. See you there!
What do you expect to use each morning when getting ready for school? A toothbrush, a hair brush, toothpaste, soap? Now, imagine you didn’t have these items. There are many people in our community that don’t have these basic things. You can help by bringing in toiletry items for our Survival Sock initiative. Fill your Pod’s box before Friday, Jan 30th.
A reminder the library will be closed today as Ms.Patten is at a professional development workshop. Ms.Courtemanche will still open it at nut break.
Volleyball News:
-The gym will be open at NB today for gr ⅞ comp girls if you want to practice your rotation. Mrs C will also get your jersey numbers at that time.
-Grade ⅞ Girl Rec Volleyball you have a practice tomorrow morning at 715am
-Boys 6/7 Rec you have a practice at lunch today in the gym. Please come during lunch recess not lunch eating.

-Super Important: If you are interested in scorekeeping this season and you are in grade 7 or 8, please meet Mrs. C in her room at lunch today after eating time. If you are seeking staff recommendations for Athletic Leadership or other amazing programs, remember that you are encouraged to volunteer at Colquitz and demonstrate your leadership, commitment, and sense of community. Our first game is next week!
