April 14

Today is Vaisakhi.  Vaisakhi (pronounced va-SAH-kee), also known as Baisakhi, is an important spring festival celebrated primarily by Sikhs and Hindus, particularly in the Punjab region of India. It typically falls on April 13 or 14 and marks the beginning of the new solar year, the harvest season, and a significant moment in Sikh history.

Vaisakhi is celebrated worldwide, particularly in places with large Sikh populations like Canada, the UK, and the USA. It is a time for the community to come together, reflect on history, enjoy food and music, and reaffirm their commitment to the values of equality, bravery, and service to humanity.

Today, everyone will have the chance to celebrate in the Band Room with music, dancing and pakoras.  Hooray!
