Eid ul Adha 2026 is observed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. As an Islamic holiday based on the lunar calendar, its exact timing can vary slightly by region depending on local moon sightings.Eid al-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important Islamic holidays worldwide. Eid Mubarak!
During Silent Reading today, Culture Club is going to provide yummy Spring Rolls to all classes as part of Asian Heritage Month.
Spring rolls in Canada originated from Chinese culinary traditions, with deep-fried versions evolving alongside Vietnamese influences in the mid-1980s. Popularized by immigrants, they range from traditional delicate wrappers to thicker, Canadian-style “egg rolls” and Vietnamese-style rice paper rolls, which are generally lighter and often crispier.
Track and Field News:
-Good luck to all of the athletes who are attending our last league track meet today! Make sure you have indicated that you need a ride right after the announcements as Mrs C is taking the sheets off the board to make the stickers. A special good luck to Landon, River, James, Harry and Isla who are competing in the final championships for discus and 2000m today!! Goooooooo Colquitz!!
-There will be a meeting Friday for all track and field athletes. If you already know you are in the top 13 for field events or the top 17 for run events, you are definitely going to the full day championship track meet next week. Mrs C is going to a meeting on Monday evening to determine other athletes who have a possibility of going next week. Those people especially need to come to the meeting Friday.
[Ms Schlappner] – Spring has sprung and with it, it seems, many people have forgotten the rules of the school and their classes. Here is a quick refresher for everyone:
- Only one student at a time should be leaving the class, and they should get permission from their teacher first and sign out and back in again. No one from the same class should be in the washroom together. All students need to stay in their classrooms until the end of day bell unless you go outside together as a class.
- Speaking of washrooms, No bags or purses are allowed in the washroom at any time. The only exception is changing for a sports team with teacher permission. Only one person at a time in a stall as well.
- On the same note: only go to the washroom and water fountain closest to your classroom.
- At lunch eating, everyone needs to STAY IN THEIR OWN CLASSROOM and STAY SEATED. Yes, everyone. I will be coming to all classes today to make sure that’s happening. There are too many people sneaking into the hall, the washroom, or other classes, to connect with friends, and this needs to stop. The one person at a time rule to the washroom also applies at lunch eating time.
- Everyone needs to go outside to one of the SUPERVISED areas at breaks, and STAY SEVERAL FEET AWAY from the neighbour’s fences.
- Everyone needs to be kind, respectful and safe with each other. This includes physically (hands, feet and bodies off!) and verbally / emotional (if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all, leave each other alone if you cannot be kind.)
- Listen to staff – teachers and EAs – when they ask you to do or not do something. Period.
We want everyone to have a wonderful end to the year, and we all need to do our part. If you cannot follow these and the other expectations of the school, which are too numerous to list, you will be speaking to Ms Drouin or me and we will be calling your parents. We know you are all capable of this – show us! 🙂 And thank you to those who DO do these things every day. We see you and appreciate you!
