Today is the first day of Passover (Pesach) which begins at sundown. Passover is a major Jewish spring holiday celebrating the Exodus—the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt under Moses’ leadership. This year it takes place from this evening until Thursday, April 9th.
Passover marks the birth of the Jewish nation, emphasizing freedom, resilience, faith, and passing down traditions. The week-long festival features the Seder, a ritual meal of symbolic foods like matzah, designed to make participants feel as though they personally left Egypt. It is a time for family, community, and ensuring the story is remembered by future generations.
Today during Silent Reading, we will be handing out a traditional food called Matzah to all staff and students in the foyer. Your teachers have a slideshow to show you to explain more about Passover and the significance of Matzah. We look forward to seeing you then!
